group of people in counselling sessionHealth Education services are intended for short term group and individual sessions that focus on strategies for achieving positive health outcomes (i.e., viral suppression) independently. Sessions are curricula-based with an emphasis on basic HIV-related knowledge, treatment education, health literacy (e.g., understanding blood work results and treatment regimens, self-advocacy with medical providers), building support systems, and transmission prevention.  Education and risk reduction services are structured to enhance the knowledge base, health literacy, and self-efficacy of HIV-infected persons in accessing and maintaining HIV medical services and staying healthy.
