CAPP Health Education Supervisor

ACR Health is a not-for-profit, community-based organization providing a range of support services to individuals with chronic diseases, including HIV/AIDS, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, asthma, substance use disorders, and serious mental illnesses, and targeted prevention and sexual health services to individuals, from youth through adulthood with the goal of positive health outcomes. We are currently hiring for a CAPP Health Education Supervisor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversight of ACR Health’s CAPP program, including the planning, development and coordination of programs designed to meet the cultural, social-emotional, educational, and risk reduction needs of Onondaga County youth at risk for unintended pregnancy and unhealthy relationships or domestic violence.
  • Provide day to day leadership, direction and staff development activities to CAPP program staff, including trainings on reporting requirements, accurate data collection/entry, crisis intervention and confidentiality.
  • Development and oversight of materials, presentations and trainings aimed at increasing knowledge surrounding adolescent sexual and reproductive health, including, but not limited to, pregnancy prevention, safer sex and healthy relationships.
  • Assist in facilitating timely referrals among ACR Health programs for CAPP clients, including meeting with other program supervisors/managers to ensure a streamlined referral process exists between programs.
  • Network with regional community based organizations to promote CAPP activities and interagency collaboration.
  • Review CAPP activities scheduled by staff and assess for effectiveness and appropriateness.
  • Develop, implement and maintain evaluation and quality assurance components related to CAPP activities, program outcome measurements, evaluation of staff and interns, inventory, and operation procedures.
  • Maintain up to date statistics and needs assessment information related to adolescent pregnancy and relationships, including co-factors that impact pregnancy and domestic violence, in Onondaga County.
  • Monitor CAPP social networking sites for appropriate content.
  • Assist in the completion of reports, including Projected vs Actuals, for CAPP programming within agency and contract guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all required data entry and reporting within the required time frame, including monitoring data and running weekly/monthly reports to check for accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Provide weekly supervision to CAPP staff.
  • Facilitate quarterly meeting with other CAPP programs/staff to ensure community needs are being addressed in a collaborative and cooperative manner.
  • Organize community outreach and engagement events surrounding adolescent pregnancy preventions to engage teens and parents/caregivers.
  • Provide parent/caregiver education to improve parent-child communication surrounding sexual and reproductive health.
  • Assess education needs within identified and/or targeted communities and organizations.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of social networking sites/apps to promote CAPP activities and family planning services in Onondaga County.
  • Conduct Outreach to promote CAPP program activities through web-based platforms and PSAs.
  • Continue to develop expanding knowledge surrounding adolescent relationships and unintended pregnancy including tracking new trends and maintaining up-to-date statistics and needs assessments.
  • Continue to develop effective public speaking techniques including a reality based style of delivering information in educational presentations to diverse groups.
  • Incorporate best practices regarding confidentiality into all job duties and communications in accordance with HIPPA, Article 27-F, ACR Health’s policies and procedures and other applicable regulations. Protect agency data in accordance with confidentiality procedures and protocols.
  • Attend community-based committees/meetings/workgroups related to the health and well-being of youth, as assigned.
  • Assist in the creation of Youth Services publications, such as brochures and handouts, tailored to diverse populations and work collaboratively with the Public Relations Department to promote CAPP Services in Onondaga County.
  • Assist in the general work of the Youth Services Department, including special projects and general Agency programs.
  • Attend all required and recommended staff trainings and in-services.
  • Perform other work as assigned by the Director of Youth Services, Deputy Executive Directors and Executive Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in social work, education or related field. At least 3 years of experience with provision of comprehensive sexuality education to an adolescent population. Knowledge of adolescent social-emotional development. Knowledge of or experience with adolescents ages 11-21 residing in Onondaga County. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment. Public speaking and group facilitation skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deal with multiple demands. Effective communication and documentation skills, as well as cultural and linguistic competence, required. Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, and attention to detail skills are a must. A commitment to teamwork. A strong commitment to the mission and vision of ACR Health. Reliable automobile, valid NYS driver’s license and willingness to travel required.

Pay: $40,000.00 – $44,000.00 per year
