Job Title: Center of Expertise (COE) Training Assistant

Office Location: Syracuse

Salary: $23.75 – $25.75/Hourly

Classification: Classification: Non-Exempt position. Thirty-five (35) hours per week. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for meetings, workshops, outreach, events, and seminars.

Position Summary: The COE Training Assistant supports the development and delivery of high-quality training focused on drug user health and related public health topics. Working closely with the program manager, lead trainer, and team members, the Training Assistant helps coordinate and enhance both virtual and in-person learning experiences. This role is essential for improving participant engagement, maintaining accurate training records, and ensuring effective communication with training participants. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a commitment to cultural humility and public health.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  2. Experience in training coordination, development, or a related area preferred.
  3. Must be able to manage multiple tasks, communicate effectively, work independently and as part of a team, and utilize computer and software application skills (Microsoft Office).
  4. Good communication, documentation and writing skills.
  5. Proficiency with virtual tools and activities to enhance engagement.
  6. Must have a valid, unrestricted NYS driver’s license and access to a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle is required for necessary travel.
  7. Experience delivering stigma-free, non-judgmental, and culturally competent services
  8. Commitment to cultural humility and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, chronic illness, LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.
  9. Strong alignment with the mission, vision, and values of ACR Health.
  10. Good communication, documentation and writing skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Incorporate best practices regarding confidentiality into all job duties and communications in accordance with Article 27-F and HIPAA, ACR Health policies and procedures and other applicable regulations.  Protect agency data in accordance with confidentiality procedures and protocols.  Observe and abide by the HIV Confidentiality Law and HIPAA.
  2. Assist in presenting, developing, and updating training materials tailored to adult learners and harm reduction frameworks.
  3. Stay current on evidence-based practices, emerging issues, and policy updates related to drug user health and public health.
  4. Use interactive tools and innovative virtual strategies to enhance participant engagement.
  5. Help create and distribute promotional materials, training announcements, and logistical communications.
  6. Maintain accurate training data (attendance, evaluations, participant info) in the Learning Management System (HIVTrainingNY.org).
  7. Represent the program at tabling events and outreach opportunities to promote training and expand community engagement.
  8. Participate in team meetings, required training, and ongoing professional development.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Management and Chief Program Officer.
